How it ALL began!

Reiner's musical career began at the tender age of 3.
The first pieces of music such as Hänschen klein, Summ, Summ, Summ were literally "hammered out" on the piano at home. He began his musical training on the accordion at the age of 7 and switched to the Hammond organ at 14.

Several attempts by his musical grandfather to get Reiner interested in a wind instrument failed miserably. Until one Sunday, when his grandfather came home with an old trumpet, the then 15-year-old Reiner blew into it out of curiosity and even heard some melodious notes - the spell was broken.
 

With a lot of hard work, regular practice, the right breathing technique and the right teacher, he was able to join the local music association after just a short period of intensive training. The training was stepped up and then things went from strength to strength: the first bands became aware of him and he discovered the "stage" for himself. That was more than 40 years and over 1,000 concerts ago. 

I have or had the honor to participate as a trumpeter or flugelhorn player.   

I can't imagine if Reiner's grandfather hadn't bought the old trumpet back then...
